I have just redesigned and upgraded Worcester Apple website to joomla 1.7. I am working on a Wordpress and drupal version to increase my general knowledge of CMS based websites. I will then be offering these to my clients for the same price as a static based site. Hopefully this will help my clients and my business in this current downturn.

It does not seem like nearly 12 months since I last blogged. Business has been tough - In our industry we tend to be the first to get cut in recession but the first to come out. Lets hope it's not long now. I have run a joomla CMS management course recently for a Middle School and I am going to be running 3 day CS5 course next week - could it just be a flash in the pan. Lets wait and see!

I am now getting my head around the major improvements to Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and more importantly from a designers point of view Flash Catalyst. Reminds me of an interactive version of Quark I once ran courses in QuarkImedia.

Have just run the first of The New CS5 courses in InDesign, was always a great app now an excellent app with the ability to output interactive files (Remember Quarkimedia?) for the web as Flash and SWF - even has page turning.

I know there are still a great many people who require websites, even more so in the current economic climate, but find it hard to find the money. I am aiming to offer a services for these people. The total cost of the website to be spread over 6 monthly payments, with an even cheaper deal to purchase in up front.

Joomla is excellent!
....but it does show me how much I don't know.

I have a problem with joomla, VitueMart, sh404SEF and SSL... All where working fine till one day it just stopped. I know there must be a logical reason... but as yet I have not found it!

joomla, VitueMart, and SSL all work fine on there own, but when you add in sh404SEF... the problems start. I have searched all the forums and help files with little success in solving the problem.

It is difficult to build a e-commerce site without all these elements working... Does anyone know of a solution?

The way websites are constructed has changed dramatically over the last few years, It has almost come full circle from its humble beginnings as a in-line text file with pictures, through table based design, with structure and layout (but not search engine friendly) to it current format where the content (in-line text file with pictures) is separated from the design using XHTML and CSS...

My First Blog

Hi - this is my first blog site, even though I have been using the internet for years. It will be interesting to see how soon people find my blog. I am a graphic design, website designer and software trainer.

I have been training in graphic and web based software more or less from when it started way back in the 80's. Yes - there are older generations who use and understand computers. Through this blog I am hoping to share some of my knowledge, and help other to grow and develop.

However, I am still learning myself and if any one has tips and ideas they want to share... I will be happy to pass them on and use them.
